Addiction & Recovery

 

The Basement Recovery Project  An award-winning, independent, community-based organisation offering those in addiction to alcohol or drugs a new way of life, free from the need or desire to use any mood-altering substance.   Based at Kindness at the Old Co-op  in Todmorden.

Branching Out   A confidential service, with groups in Todmorden, for people Under 21 years of age who are using or at risk of using alcohol, tobacco or drugs.

Drug & Alcohol Rehab in West Yorkshire | Rehab 4 Addiction – A website offering resources on addiction and mental health, a helpline for immediate assistance in West Yorkshire, and a directory of treatment centres across the UK

Domestic Abuse

Calderdale Staying Safe support/Calderdale Women’s Centre   Offering domestic abuse support, safety advice and a link to legal advice. Discreet drop-in sessions are available in Todmorden,  where you can speak to a support worker confidentially about your situation and explore your options. Emotional/Mental Health

Andy’s Man Club  Support for men over 18.  Session at Tod College every Monday at 7pm except Bank Holidays

Safespace – Safespace offers emotional support for people in distress during evenings and weekends. Healthy Minds at Roomfield Baptist Church  Drop in session every Wednesday to access free support for emotional health and well-being.

 

Families

Calder Community Cares Family Support & Interventions  Providing practical and emotional help to support families, bringing family members closer together

SENDIASS  Advice and support for parents of children and young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities about education, health and social care.

 Todmorden Children’s Centre & Nursery   Pre-school Nursery, parenting courses, breast feeding group, Dad’s group, strengthening families courses, family support workers.

Young Carers  Support service for young people in Todmorden, aged 8-18, who live with someone who has an illness, disability, mental health or substance misue issue.

Food

Calder Community Cares Food Share Project  The Food Share Project can provide food parcels in an emergency, call 0790 3452 788)

The Old Library Cornholme, Food Bank & Cafe The Old Library at Cornholme runs a drop in Food Bank which is open every Monday 10am-12pm

Kindness Cafe The Kindness Cafe serves delicious and nutritious food and operates a ‘pay it forward’ scheme that allows customers to donate a meal.  The cafe has recently moved to new premises on Rochdale Road and they are currently closed for renovations.

Todmorden Food Drop in Open Saturdays at Tod College 10am-12pm.  Free food parcels, advice and support, hot drinks and food served when open

Grant Giving Organisations

Cloughfoot School Trust Small grants awarded once a year to those under the age of 25 who live in Todmorden and who are in education or training to help with purchase of books, equipment or travel costs)

Heptonstall Exhibition & Richard Naylor Charities Small grants awarded once a year to young people living within the old Heptonstall Parish boundary which includes Todmorden.

Tod Support.  Tod Support distributes funds from Todmorden War Memorial Fund and the Abraham Ormerod Fund to help people in need in Todmorden.  Full details can be found on their website.  They also run advice sessions at Todmorden Food Drop In on the third Saturday of each month from 9.30am to 12.

Housing

Calderdale Council Housing Advice

Street Reach   A service for people, aged 18 and over, who have experience rough sleeping.  Their support workers come to the Kindness Hub in Todmorden on the first Monday of the month.

Smart Move  A client-centred service assisting homeless and vulnerably housed people.  Support workers come to the Kindness Hub in Todmorden on the first Monday of the month.  

 

Older People

Age Concern Todmorden – an independent charity providing a range of support services for older people in Todmorden, Walsden, Cornholme, Portsmouth and surrounding areas.

Calder Community Cares  Check in and chat service and social events for older people in Todmorden who may be feeling isolated.

Dementia Friendly Todmorden a volunteer run group who aim to make the town a dementia friendly community.

9:00am -12:00pm:  Todmorden Health Centre Coffee Morning Catch up with old friends or maybe even meet and make new friends over a free coffee/tea.

10.00am-5.00pm:  Todmorden Library Warm Space    Free wifi, hot drinks, device charging, computer access.

11.30am-1.30pm:  Vale Baptist Church Community Hub  Meet with friends and make new ones.  Enjoy a free light lunch and take part in various activities.  

WEDNESDAY

10:00am-12.00pm:  Age Concern Coffee morning, Central Methodist Church, Bramsche Square, Todmorden

10.00am-5.00pm:  Todmorden Library Warm Space    Free wifi, hot drinks, device charging, computer access.

12.30pm-2.30pm:  Roomfield Baptist Church Social Drop In  faciliated by Healthy Minds Volunteers (over 18s only)  

THURSDAY

10.00am-12.00pm: Todmorden Health Centre Coffee Morning  Catch up with old friends or maybe even meet and make new friends over a free coffee/tea.

12.00pm-6.30pm Todmorden Health Centre Warm Space  Open from Thursday 5th October until 31st March 2024.  All welcome.  Hot drinks, soup and sandwiches.  Free wifi.

12.00pm-2.00pm: St Mary’s Church Crypt Cafe  All welcome. Enjoy a warm space, hot drinks, freshly made soup and biscuits.  Pay as you can

FRIDAY
