Todmorden Town Council Re-launches Popular My Tree Promise Scheme for 2024

Following the resounding success of last year’s initiative, Todmorden Town Council is excited to announce the return of the My Tree Promise scheme for 2024. This year, we are once again offering 100 potted dwarf fruit trees to Todmorden residents to help further our commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action.

The My Tree Promise scheme, originally launched by the Council’s Climate Emergency Committee, aims to enhance tree canopy coverage in Todmorden, contributing to a greener and healthier environment for future generations. The initiative has gained significant popularity, and we encourage residents to apply quickly, as demand is expected to be high.

Each household can receive one dwarf fruit tree, complete with a 70-litre pot and a bag of compost, on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate, residents must submit an application form and agree to specific terms and conditions. These include providing details of the intended planting location and signing up for the Town Council’s Climate Pledge.

Full details of the terms and conditions, as well as the online application form, can be found on the My Tree Promise page of our website.  Applications will open on 1st August and close on 31st August 2024.

Cllr Jane Williams, Chair of the Council’s Climate Emergency Committee, expressed her enthusiasm for the continued success of the scheme: “The response to last year’s My Tree Promise was overwhelming, demonstrating the community’s commitment to environmental stewardship. We are thrilled to offer this scheme again and look forward to seeing even more trees planted throughout Todmorden.”
