Todmorden Mayoralty
On 25th May 2024, Todmorden welcomed its 110th Town Mayor, Councillor Ben Jancovich.
Councillor Jancovich was elected to our Stoodley Ward at the 4th May 2023 election. he has chosen two charities to support in his Mayoral year The Todmorden Hippodrome Theatre and Music for the Many.
Ben was born and raised in London but has lived in Todmorden since 2007. He spent most of his professional life working in developing drama scripts for theatre and TV. Latterly he has spent time teaching dramatic writing and directing at various universities and drama schools. He was a Board Member of both Script Yorkshire and Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, for whom he was particularly involved with the Hebden Shorts, enabling local writers, directors, actors, and technicians to work together. He is currently trying (largely unsuccessfully ) to complete two film scripts and a series of short stories. He is married with two children, a Chelsea fan (sorry) and a Dead Head (look it up).
