Planning Applications

Although Calderdale Council is responsible for approving planning applications, Todmorden Town Council, because of its local knowledge,  is asked to provide comments on planning applications for Todmorden.

Planning applications are considered at the monthly meetings of the Development Committee. When giving feedback on individual planning applications, the Committee considers the potential impact of the proposed development on the local environment and community. They take into account issues such as:

  • The likely impact on the local environment, such as the potential for increased flooding and the impact on the quality of life for residents and wildlife
  • The materials to be used and the general appearance of the proposed development to ensure it will blend into the existing setting
  • The impact on the local transport network and parking
  • Changes to listed buildings

The table linked to below provides a list of all the planning applications that Todmorden Town Council has been consulted on in the 2020/21 civic year to date.  Included in the table is the feedback our Development Committee has submitted to Calderdale Council for each application.
