After obtaining third party permissions and many months of negotiation, leases have now been executed and Todmorden Town Council now has ownership of the Bandstand & the Bowling Pavilion in order to proceed further with these projects.
With planning permission already obtained for both projects, the Town Council has agreed the content of the Invitation to Tender document, that combines the proposed works for both projects under one contract for delivery.
The Town Council has now formally issued the Tender Documents for contractors to bid for the Bandstand & Bowling Pavilion projects.
Based on estimated costs, and following receipt of grants from the Community Ownership Fund (£250,000 towards the Bowling Pavilion) and National Lottery Heritage Fund (c £200,000 towards the Bandstand), there are now enough funds held to enable us to make this move.
This is a significant milestone in the journey towards delivering these much-supported projects. Some caution is still needed as there is uncertainty about the appetite and/or availability of contractors to take on these projects, let alone what their tendered costs to do these works may be.
More certainty will emerge toward the middle of January 2025 and if in a position to do so, a contractor will be appointed. The ambition is for works to be completed by October 2025.
As the Town Council moves forward with physical construction matters, we continue to work with the groups who will eventually be using the Bandstand & Bowling Pavilion, more details on this will start to emerge over the next few months.
